QUOTE OF THE DAY

Hollywood is well versed in making films based on scripts which cover the unbelievable and the improbable, but if you had approached them with a script about two Irishmen who would turn around a club that was about as low as it could get to one that was riding high at the top of its League, they would have rejected it as to improbable. Yet with Sunderland AFC, this is a true story. Despite what may happen from today onwards, Roy Keane deserves the Freedom of the City, Manager of the Year etc etc. His team now stand proud at the top of the Championship, a far cry from its position when he first took over. As a player Keane’s rough edges overshadowed his professionalism and commitment to football. His progress at Sunderland however, should be a lesson to all players, managers and chairman; you can’t buy honesty and you can’t buy success, you have to earn it!

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
