SOME COUNCILS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS

The “Sunday Sun” has an equal pay story which doesn’t do our regional councils any good at all. Half have missed the government deadline for implementation, with an envisaged regional bill of £500 million remaining unpaid. Unsurprisingly, South Tyneside Council has missed the deadline, with 4000 females being owed £3.8 million over three years. Will this money be recuperated from higher council tax bills I wonder! Perhaps what is more worrying is that this money is a legal entitlement for these women. Does South Tyneside actually think they are above the law? What would happen if these women refused to pay their council tax for three years? Perhaps they should ask Rossendale’s (the Councils collection agency) to pay Irene Lucas a visit at the Town Hall!
