BRING ON THE CROONERS

Well, it’s that time of year again when we all realize that Terry Wogan is a national treasure and that Johnny Foreigner can write songs to save his bacon. Yes, it’s the “Eurovision Song Contest”, when whole families sit on the sofa and go all camp! However, here’s a little snippet, did you know that Gordon Brown has a historic link with the contest. Here is his “wikipedia” entry:

"In 1967, whilst serving under Tony Blair, he sang a duet with Sandie Shaw called “Puppet on a String”. He followed this up with collaboration with Lulu about his handling of the economy, creatively titled “Boom Bang A Bust” (the B side to this single was an ode to his pension scheme plans with the New Seekers, “Beg Steal or Borrow”). But who could forget his paring with The Shadows during the leadership campaign, “Let Me Be The One”, his summary of the Blair era with CoCo, “Bad Old Days” and his final entry with that lovable scally Sonia when he ripped into that classic pre election ballad “Better The Devil You Know”. Gordon Brown folks, the fifth Beatle!

Not to be out done, David Miliband whilst contemplating a leadership challenge got together with Bucks Fizz and warbled “Making Your Mind Up”.
