PLEASE, NO MORE!

Despite the fact that Blair’s resignation details have been one of politics worst kept secrets and his demise one of the most media hyped event of the last two decades, papers, radio and TV still plummeted headlong into over drive when Tony finally fell on his own sword in Sedgefield. Every hack, pundit, friend (singular), ex minister (dead or alive) and spin doctor has been dragged from their festering pits to pore scorn, mirth or praise on the Blair departure. Even Bill Roache, who’s David Banner like other half is “Ken Barlow” from Coronation Street, has been asked for words of wit and wisdom! Who will be dragged out next? Noddy and Big Ears for their views on the Iraq War, Dot Cotton for her reflections on state intrusions into private lives etc? If I hear the word “legacy” again, it’s “Lap Land” for me!

What matters now is the fact that Gordon will now be at the helm, regardless of who stands in his way. When the dust has finally settled I have a strange feeling that we will be faced with the situation of “same old, same old”, but worse.
