THAT WAS THE WEEK THAT WAS

A FRIDAY COLUMN WITH AN ALTERNATIVE TAKE ON THE WEEKS NEWS

Yes, I know it’s only Thursday and this is a regular Friday column, but tomorrow is a bit busy at work to say the least and time may not be available to post. So here’s your drivel a day early!

HOW TO FOOL A NATION: THE MANUAL

The world of literature was put on red alert when it emerged that Alistair Campbell’s memoirs will be released two weeks after Tony Blair resigns as PM. Entitled “Tony Blair: My Part In His Downfall”, the text comes in various formats;

1. An audio edition, 45 minutes long, read by Peter Mandelson. Unfortunately Peter has to leave half way through (twice) and the rest of the text is taken up by David Blunkett’s dog.

2. A “sexed up” limited edition version.

3. 3D scratch and sniff format, with free Cherie Blair touring wig.

4. A large print version with pop up pictures for John Prescott, including a desk, cars (two pages) and houses.

With chapter headings such as “Hutton was my lap dog” and “How I really ran this country not Tony”, sales of the book are expected to reach double figures.
