MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!

Did anybody just hear that rather load “kerching” noise just now? That was the sound of the human rights lawyers counting their potential earnings as a result of the news that no police officers involved in the shooting of Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes will face disciplinary action. The other sound you heard, that sharp intake of breath, was the libertarians who are aghast that the Police Complaints Commission has decided not to pursue matters against 11 officers.

To be honest, this is a difficult one. Troubled times lead to difficult decisions, and London at the time of the shooting was facing a threat never faced before (after all, the IRA never had the commitment to blow themselves up. They also tended to give a warning). The issue here is that the human rights industry created by Blair will go into raptures of delight with regards to the PCC decision. The race will be on to see who can get to Menenzes parents first. After all, first there, first sue!
