THE SUNDAY ROAST

The Sunday papers this week reflect how many of us feel like at the moment; it’s a bit like being in a void, waiting for the coronation of a new king so that we can resume our campaign for the end of the monarchy. The King in waiting however has been busy, travelling around the country and rattling up hundreds of carbon heavy miles on the old promotional clockometer. Taking a leaf out of the BBC book on how to conduct business, Gordon Brown has been offering more repeats than a weekend schedule. His announcement of the building of green towns and houses on a carbon neutral basis is merely a rehash of a policy from over a year ago, according to a Conservative spokesman. The Sunday Times gives two pages to Browns new “Leggo” towns, but fails to make any mention of his bird like ability to regurgitate announcements, a process he perfected over many years when tackling the Budget.
